Duquesne has a crazy football history, including a claim to three national titles, victories in bowl games... they were the first team to wear different jerseys for home and away games. They were the first team to play under stadium lights. They've adjusted to the scholarship level better than anyone could have expected, and are in position to claim an outright title this year. And they have their first game against an FBS opponent in decades this Saturday when they play Buffalo. Sure, they'll probably lose, but who cares? This is big! In fact, if you listen to the guys at UBBullRun.com, they have some concerns about the matchup! We have a team that makes people worry. How cool is that? The Dukes have a storied football history that is unfortunately lost on too many fans, so I hope you'll follow everything with us this year. How can you not watch local kid Dillon Buechel, who turned in one of the best freshmen QB performances in school history? The BCS transfers who have come home? A playmaking team who were on the SCTop10 last year when Sean Brady had an insane one-handed catch? This is just different from FBS, where you have to win every game to have a shot at anything. It's the conference that matters - but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy a stretch against Buffalo, a YSU team where we actually have a chance, beating up on Dayton (because who doesn't love that)? A rivalry against RMU - the only backyard brawl that still exists in PA? There's so much to be excited about with this team.
