Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Carroll canned one year after a Sweet 16 NIT appearance after one losing season?

While I love what RE has done with the program, and I would give him every opportunity to show that he can take this program to the next level, there is history to say that a change could be (not should be) made. As previously said, there is no history of RE making it to the next level, just of him rebuilding programs. I do think he has more of a leash than you're giving him though Steve. The issue is that a new coach may have little to start with if RE goes since Saunders and BC will be gone as well (though that may also work in favor of starting fresh as well).

The problem is that if you can RE, you run the risk of more Nee, Porter, Edgar years...we've had way more unsuccessful coaches than successful ones. That's why I'd be careful......
I'm absolutely wary of changing coaches as well, but like TheFace has mentioned, we're in a position where fewer high profile candidates or up and comers will rule us out simply because we're Duquesne. I think the talent pool we have to draw from will be substantially better.

That being said, I only think his job is in danger if there is further regression or a repeat of last. As was discussed in another thread, I think this team has enough talent to go NIT. I think the chances of a repeat are very slim and regression even slimmer which means that Ron will be around for at least a couple more years.
