I have always been a proponent of slow sustained growth in businees, finances and even sports because the longevity of it is that much greater. RE has taken us a long way in a relatively short period of time. Although 07-08 may have been disappointing to some, last season was the only one where we tended to fall backwards. Bumps in the road if we learn from them. That means self-examination by the players, the coaches and the GA. We can't rely solely on recruiting.
I have said before that the major reason the administration had agreed to the sudden surge in basketball is the get the national exposure needed to raise our academic profile. That means keeping Pitt even if they don't agree to play at the Consol this year. It means upgrading our schedule and including an exotic location if only to attract a higher leverl recruit. It means developing our players including a regimented weight program in the off season. It means developing leaders and a healthy atmosphere in the locker room. It means personally identifying your weaknesses anddoing everything that it is necessary to minimize them. Do those things and the program continues to grow.
I don't expect Final Four even in the near future. Programs like George Mason, Davidson etc couldn't sustain anything close but I think we need to expect the NIT and aim for the NCAA tournament.Everything good plan begins with an objective.
